Adam Copeland, also known as Edge, has become the undisputed protagonist of this week's news. The former WWE superstar made his debut in All Elite Wrestling at the end of AEW WrestleDream, where he reunited with his old friend Christian Cage.
Since then, much has been said about the reasons that led him to sign with Tony Khan's company, with Cage being one of the main factors for Copeland joining their ranks in this later stage of his professional career. However, there are more reasons that supported his decision, as The Rated-R Superstar pointed out in a recent interview with The Ringer Wrestling Show.
"Honestly, it was after Judgment Day because, okay, that story was done. So... It wasn't anything one way or another, there's no ill will, there's no resentment at all. I'm actually really happy about that, because I love that company. It was just that, at a certain point, you've been here for 25 years - I was hired for ten matches a year, I offered more because I thought, 'hey, if I'm here longer, I can contribute more, and we can tell deeper stories,' but at that point, and it's a good point, (if) you're around more, it feels less special and I get that," Copeland said.
"I know it could end up being the same with AEW. When it becomes a pattern, people say, 'Well, it's that guy again.' But I'm trying to look at the positive side of that, I can go deeper with it. I can tell deeper stories this way instead of showing up every three months here and there. So, that's really what happened, what else was there to do? Even in terms of wrestling most of the current (WWE) roster, there wasn't a whole list of names I could think of. I looked at the other roster (AEW), and there was one. I'm not knocking anyone, it just means I got to wrestle a lot of really cool people in those three and a half, four years I was with WWE in this last run," Copeland stated.

Copeland delivered his first promo in the company on the latest episode of AEW Dynamite. There, he reunited with Christian Cage and proposed teaming up again after two decades to compete together in this final stage of their careers. However, the current TNT Champion, still resentful over the events of AEW WrestleDream, refused the offer, insulting the man who was once his best friend and leaving him lying in the ring.
