Malakai Black is nearing the end of his recovery and is training with his real-life wife, WWE superstar Zelina Vega. Vega posted a video on social media showing both of them training in a wrestling ring. Malakai Black moves perfectly in the ring, hinting at his potential return to action in All Elite Wrestling.
"I have the best on my side. My time is coming," Zelina Vega wrote on Twitter. She is also trying to find her place in WWE's main roster after being pushed to the top of the card at the Backlash event.
Malakai Black has been without an official match for almost months. Since August 2022, Black has not competed in a singles match, raising concerns among his fans, who suspected a serious injury. In a recent Instagram post, Malakai reassured his followers regarding his physical condition.
"Once again, rest assured, my back is not injured. The reason I'm home right now is due to a minor injury. I had a slight calf tear and a hyperextended knee, which is almost healed, and I'm almost ready to compete again. I appreciate the concern, but the reality is I'm fine, and you'll see me sooner rather than later, but again, I appreciate the concern."
Malakai Black's last recorded match took place in late August 2023 at the AEW All In: London event. On that occasion, The House Of Black, a team consisting of Brody King, Buddy Matthews, and Malakai Black, lost the trios titles to Billy Gunn and The Acclaimed (Anthony Bowens and Max Caster). Since then, Malakai Black has been absent from the programming.
