"MJF achieves the longest reign as AEW World Champion."

On November 19, 2022, Maxwell Jacob Friedman faced the reigning champion, Jon Moxley, at the Full Gear event of All Elite Wrestling. After 23 minutes of intense competition and an unexpected assist from William Regal, The Devil managed to overcome the member of Blackpool Combat Club and claim the AEW World Championship.

As of today, the American professional wrestler has surpassed a reign of 347 days with this title in his possession. This accomplishment makes MJF the wrestler with the longest reign as the titleholder. The Devil also holds the fourth-longest reign in AEW, surpassed only by Hikaru Shida (372 days as the Women's Champion), Hook (377 days as the FTW Champion), and Jade Cargill (508 days as the TBS Champion).

In nearly a year of his championship reign, Maxwell Jacob Friedman successfully defended the AEW World Championship in eight consecutive matches. Renowned names like Ricky Starks, Bryan Danielson, Hiroshi Tanahashi, Adam Cole, Samoa Joe, and Kenny Omega all failed in their quests to dethrone The Devil from the most prestigious belt in All Elite Wrestling. His title defenses at events like Revolution 2023 and All In London received acclaim from fans and the specialized press.

His most recent title bout took place on October 28 at AEW Collision. After half an hour of competition, Kenny Omega was unable to recapture the AEW World Championship, recognizing that the title was in "good hands."

Maxwell Jacob Friedman's next title defense is scheduled for Full Gear 2023. The Devil will face Jay White on November 18 in Los Angeles, the night before the anniversary of his championship victory. At present, The Switchblade holds MJF's title after stealing it on Dynamite.
