Rey Mysterio sets an approximate date for his retirement.

Rey Mysterio, who began his wrestling career in the 1990s, is one of the many wrestlers from that era gradually approaching retirement. This trend has been evident with Edge, Sting, and several others. In a recent interview on Ariel Helwani's MMA Hour podcast, Mysterio mentioned that he plans to retire from professional wrestling within the next year and a half to two years. While he believes he can still provide much to the fans, he senses that his wrestling career's end is approaching.

"I've got about a year left," Rey Mysterio stated on the MMA Hour podcast. "I said 50... If my body continues to respond the way it has. In the way I've been working the past 34 years, I've modified my work a lot, for the better, and I still feel I'm capable of contributing. I always like to come in and create moves where the fans can say, 'Wow, he's still doing it.' That's part of my growth and what's kept me healthy to do what I do. 'You don't have to keep sliding under the ropes and falling to the ground.' I love doing it. I like giving the fans something special."

Mysterio also expressed his desire to dedicate more time to his wife once he retires. "She gave me the freedom to decide. 'However you feel, whenever you say it's time, I respect it.' She's open to it. I hope it can be in the next year and a half to two," Rey Mysterio revealed.

A couple of years ago, Rey Mysterio stated that he wanted to ensure his son, Dominik Mysterio, became a superstar before he retired from WWE. Dominik has since taken the spotlight in his wrestling career, fulfilling his father's goal. It remains to be seen when exactly Rey Mysterio will bid farewell to the wrestling ring.
