Carlito: "I always thought I would return to WWE"

Carlito recently returned to WWE, and during an appearance on The Ringer's Cheap Heat podcast, he discussed his comeback and his thoughts on returning to WWE after his initial run with the company from 2003 to 2010. Here are his comments:

"After Puerto Rico (WWE Backlash), if nothing came after that, I would have said, 'Well, let's close this book and look for something else.' For some reason, I never went anywhere else because I always thought I would come back. I didn't think it would be 13 years, but I always had a feeling I'd return to WWE in some way.

I just had this feeling that I would be back somehow. I don't know how. The reason it took so long, I think, was a lack of communication between both parties. They thought I had issues with them, and they thought they had issues with me. Essentially, we weren't communicating. Sometimes, with time, you see things differently. I've always liked WWE, I've always wanted to be in WWE. I just needed a break. I didn't need a 13-year break.

Even when they talked to me, they hesitated and thought maybe I was anti-WWE. It's not that. I don't do the whole 'go backstage and say hi to everyone.' Even if I did, it would seem like I'm looking for a job, so I don't do it. My résumé is there. I don't want to be somewhere where I'm not wanted. My résumé is there, I'm here. I think they took it as if I didn't want anything to do with them. I'm glad we could finally sit down, air it out, and show there's love on both sides."

Carlito made his official WWE return at Fastlane, where he was revealed as the third partner of Rey Mysterio and Santos Escobar. Carlito appeared in the final moments of the match that pitted the Mexicans against Bobby Lashley and The Street Profits, becoming the turning point for LWO's victory. Following this, Carlito was added to the SmackDown roster, where he has already clashed with The All Mighty and his associates, who attacked him in the latest episode of the blue brand.
