"During the broadcasts of AEW Dynamite on TBS and Triller TV, wrestler Jon Moxley became the first qualifier for the group finals of the AEW Continental Classic.
In a pivotal matchup in the Gold League, Jon Moxley and Swerve Strickland battled in the tiebreaker, both having accumulated 9 points in previous rounds. Just moments before the time limit, and in a moment of great controversy, Mox pinned Strickland with Strickland's shoulder off the mat for the three-count victory.
With this win, Jon Moxley officially secures his spot as the first wrestler to advance to the group finals of the tournament. The AEW Continental Classic semifinals will take place on Wednesday, December 27, as part of the AEW Dynamite New Year's Smash special, with the winners competing in the grand final at AEW Worlds End. The winner of the competition will claim the American Triple Crown, consisting of the ROH World Championship, NJPW STRONG Openweight Championship, and AEW Continental Championship.
